Few artists have shaped the sound of deep house as profoundly as Osunlade. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he began his professional career as a teenager, composing music for Sesame Street before moving to Los Angeles, where he produced and collaborated with artists including Patti LaBelle, Freddie Jackson, Eric Benét, Musiq Soulchild and India.Arie.
In 1999, Osunlade founded Yoruba Records, creating a home for spiritually driven, soul-infused electronic music that has since become one of the world’s most influential independent dance music labels.
