オットー・ベンソンはニューヨーク州ブルックリンを拠点とし、10代の頃から様々な（現在は活動休止中の）名義や編成で優れた音楽を発表してきた。メモ・ボーイ名義や、ベギンのレーベルPlzmakeitruinzでのOTTO名義での活動も含まれる。

2022年以降、ベンソンは本名オットー・ベンソン名義で自主制作を開始。最初の作品となる傑作フルアルバム『Songs Before Bed』（2022年）は「就寝前にリラックスし、より今この瞬間に集中できる状態へと導く、全年齢対象のアルバム」と本人が説明している。その後も複数のシングルをリリースし、2024年にはオーストリアの電子音楽アーティスト、ミーツェ・コンテとのコラボEPを発表した。ベンソンは北米でも精力的にツアーを行い、ジェシカ・プラット（米国）やMLブッフ（デンマーク）などのアーティストのオープニングアクトを務めている。

新作アルバム『ピーナッツ』は『Songs Before Bed』（2022年）以来のフルアルバムであり、初のボーカル中心作品となる。2025年12月31日にリリースされた。

Since 2022 Benson has been self-releasing music under his full name, Otto Benson, starting with the excellent full length Songs Before Bed (2022) which he describes as “an all-ages album intended to help listeners wind down and reach a more present and relaxed state before sleeping.” Since then Benson has released multiple singles and also a collaborative EP in 2024 with electronic artist Mietze Conte (AUT). Benson has also toured extensively in North America, including opening shows for artists such as Jessica Pratt (US) and ML Buch (DK).
