1990年代から活動する日本を代表するテクノ・オリジネイター。’94年、ベルギーの名門 R&S RecordsのAmbient DivisionであるAPOLLOより「MeditationYS」名義でシングルSlumber/Space Raceを発表後、数々のエレクトロニックミュージック作品をリリース。’99年末、東京スカパラダイスオーケストラ、FPM田中知之氏らと「SPEED KING」を結成。武道館を含む全国ツアーを行う。2000年、岡田眞澄/曽我部恵一/ギターウルフのセイジといった面々がゲスト参加したアルバム「Dr.YS & THE COSMIC DRUNKARS」を発表。進歩的な姿勢で壮大な電子音を構築し、集大成と言うに相応しい作品へと仕上げた。2004年”みうらじゅんin 東京ドーム郷土LOVE2004″で、音楽制作ならびに総合音楽プロデュース行う。2007年、温泉音楽ワークス「Naturally　Gushing」プロジェクトを始動。温泉をテーマにした世界初の環境音楽＆映像集「Naturally Gushing DVD vol,1～3」を発表。
その一方、SMAPのシングル「スーパースター★」の作詞・作曲（ナイス橋本と共作）、橋幸夫歌唱＆みうらじゅん作詞による「ゆるキャラ音頭」の作曲など、各方面でマルチにその奇才ぶりを発揮する。 2019年、ワールドワイド・デビュー25周年記念として、1994年にリリースされた「PERFUMED　GARDEN」（YS名義）、並びに1stアルバム「TRAVELLER’S　LIGHT」（MUSHROOM　NOW!名義）をリイシュー。
人気ストリーミング放送”DOMMUNE”で特集番組を組まれるなど、益々活動的である。2022年、最新作として、１４年ぶりで温泉音楽ワークス「Naturally Gushing vol.2」をリリース！

ミュージシャン、作曲家、DJ、リミキサー、等として活動する他、TV、ラジオ、雑誌の連載など各メディアにおいても幅広い分野に進出。縦横無尽に活動を続けるクラブ界のマルチ文化人として活躍している。 2024年、正式に復活をとげたテクノレーベル、TRANSONIC RECORDS 第一弾コンピレーションアルバム「TRANSONIC COMPACT DISC 01」に楽曲を提供。

Yoshihiro Sawasaki is a leading Japanese techno originator who has been active since the 1990s. In 1994, he released the single “Slumber/Space Race” under the name “MeditationYS” on APOLLO, the Ambient Division of the prestigious Belgian label R&S Records, and has since released numerous electronic music works. At the end of 1999, he formed “SPEED KING” with Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra and Tomoyuki Tanaka of FPM, and they went on a nationwide tour, including a performance at the Budokan. In 2000, he released the album “Dr.YS & THE COSMIC DRUNKARS” on V2 Records, featuring guest appearances from Masumi Okada, Keiichi Sogabe, and Seiji of Guitar Wolf. He constructed a magnificent electronic soundscape with a progressive approach, creating a work truly worthy of being called a culmination of his work.

In 2004, he was in charge of music production and overall music production for “Jun Miura in Tokyo Dome Hometown LOVE 2004”. In 2007, he launched the Onsen Music Works “Naturally Gushing” project and released “Naturally Gushing DVD vol.1-3”, the world’s first collection of ambient music and videos themed around hot springs (Onsen).

On the other hand, he also demonstrated his eccentric talent in various fields, such as writing the lyrics and composing the single “Superstar★” by SMAP, who were Japan’s top idol group at the time (co-written with Nice Hashimoto), and composing “Yuru-chara Ondo,” sung by Yukio Hashi and with lyrics by Jun Miura. In 2019, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his worldwide debut, his 1994 release “PERFUMED GARDEN” (under the name YS) and his 1st album “TRAVELLER’S LIGHT” (under the name MUSHROOM NOW!) were reissued. He is becoming increasingly active, including having a special program dedicated to him on the popular streaming service “DOMMUNE.” In 2022, he released “Naturally Gushing vol.2,” his first Onsen music work in 14 years.

Yoshihiro Sawasaki is active as a musician, composer, DJ, remixer, and more, and has also ventured into a wide range of media, including TV, radio, and magazine serializations. Now he is a multi-talented cultural figure in the club scene, continuing to work freely across various fields.
In 2024, he contributed a track to “TRANSONIC COMPACT DISC 01,” the first compilation album from the officially revived techno label in Tokyo, TRANSONIC RECORDS.
